A letter of recommendation from a restaurant customer

                                                                                                    Dear XXX Restaurant

I recently enjoyed a meal at your restaurant and took my leftovers home in a carryout container.  

I would like to convey to you my displeasure with the foam packaging that you use for this purpose.  

It is extremely difficult for me to recycle and I find simply dumping it in a landfill to be unacceptable.  

Furthermore, the foam is made with toxic chemicals such as styrene, ethylene, benzene,

and ozone depleting CFCs and HCFCs.  

                                                                                                    I do not see the need to use foam clamshell-type packaging

                                                                                                    when there are plenty of alternative packing materials available.  

                                                                                                    Aluminum foil containers serve the same function of foam, yet are more easily recycled.  

                                                                                                    Even clear plastic containers numbered for recycling would be

                                                                                                    an improvement over the foam packaging.  

                                                                                                    Most restaurant supply companies stock a variety of these types of containers.  

                                                                                                    As a concerned customer,

                                                                                                    I encourage you to find a carryout package that meets the needs of

                                                                                                    your restaurant as well as the needs of our environment.
